Pinched waist die-cut
Squeeze Swing Tags
A squeeze tag narrows in the middle so the outline looks pinched, which gives the shape its character and creates its one structural weakness.

A product-specific format
A recognisable outline built around one narrow waist
A squeeze tag curves inward at the middle, creating separate upper and lower panels without adding a fold. The outline works best when the head carries the mark and the foot carries the product detail, with the waist left visually quiet.
Because every bend concentrates at the narrowest point, the waist has to be judged as structure as well as style. A small printed mock-up is not enough; approve the shape in the intended board weight.

Additional information
Build the specification
Squeeze Swing Tags specification
- The waist is the weak point
- All the bending stress concentrates at the narrowest section. It sets the board weight and it is the first thing to fail if the board is too light.
- Waist ratio is the design
- How far the sides cut in is the whole shape. A shallow squeeze reads as a rectangle with soft sides; a deep one reads as a distinct silhouette.
- Two usable panels
- The shape naturally divides into a head and a foot with a narrow bridge between, which suits a layout with a mark above and detail below.
- Nesting is inefficient
- Concave sides do not tile neatly, so more board is wasted per sheet than with a rectangle. That shows up in the price on long runs.
- Hole above the waist
- Punching near or below the waist leaves too little material. The hole belongs in the wider head section.

Squeeze Swing Tags FAQs
What is a squeeze tag?
A tag with concave sides that pinch inwards at the middle, giving a wider head and foot with a narrow waist between them. The silhouette is the product.
Does the waist make it fragile?
It is the point where bending stress concentrates, so yes, if the board is too light. Specify a heavier stock than you would for a rectangle of the same size.
Does it cost more than a rectangle?
Yes, on two counts: it needs a cutting form, and concave sides do not nest efficiently, so more board is wasted per sheet.
