Small flat format

A product-specific format
Mini Swing Tags for product presentation
Mini Swing Tags give product teams a dedicated format for the information and presentation requirements of the item being sold. The specification should begin with the product it will be attached to, then account for the information the tag needs to carry.
Use the form to record the final size, card direction, print sides, finishing and attachment for mini swing tags. This keeps the practical decisions together before artwork is supplied or confirmed.

Additional information
Build the specification
Mini Swing Tags specification
- The hole dominates
- At mini sizes the punched hole and its surrounding margin take a large share of the tag. Design from the hole outwards rather than from the edges in.
- Trim tolerance is proportionally larger
- The same physical trim variation is a much bigger percentage of a small tag, so keep type well clear of the edge.
- Heavier board, not lighter
- Small tags need proportionally more rigidity, not less. A light board at mini size feels like a sweet wrapper.
- Ruthless information hierarchy
- A mini tag carries one or two items of information. Deciding which ones is most of the design work.
- Threading time
- Small tags are slow to hand-thread. On a large run the attachment method affects the finishing cost more than the printing does.
Artwork and file guidance
Prepare the artwork
Plan the finished format before export
Keep essential mini swing tags copy clear of the trim edge and attachment area. The page-specific artwork guidance explains the considerations for formats, holes, folds and variable product information.
If mini swing tags artwork is not final, submit the product and specification details first. This gives the production conversation a clear starting point without forcing a premature file upload.

Mini Swing Tags FAQs
How small can a mini tag be?
The practical floor is set by the hole and the margin around it rather than by the printing. Once the hole and its surround dominate the tag, going smaller stops being useful.
Should a mini tag use lighter card?
No, heavier. Small tags need proportionally more rigidity to feel like an object rather than a scrap, so the board weight usually goes up as the size comes down.
How is this different from a mini folded tag?
This is a single flat panel. A mini folded tag creases to give extra panels at the same hanging size, which is the right choice when the information will not fit on one face.
