A translucent tag material
Frosted Swing Tags
Frosted swing tags use a translucent synthetic sheet that lets background colour and light influence the design. Printing, white ink, legibility and hole reinforcement must be planned for a non-absorbent material.
- In stock online. Swing tags are configured and ordered online from one tag; briefs for several designs or very large runs can also be quoted through the Custom Tag Builder.

A product-specific format
Frosted Swing Tags for product presentation
Frosted Swing Tags give product teams a dedicated format for the information and presentation requirements of the item being sold. The specification should begin with the product it will be attached to, then account for the information the tag needs to carry.
Use the form to record the final size, card direction, print sides, finishing and attachment for frosted swing tags. This keeps the practical decisions together before artwork is supplied or confirmed.

Where this format fits
Frosted Swing Tags uses
Clear product packaging
Allow some packaging colour to remain visible through the tag while using an opaque layer beneath essential text.
Beauty and personal care
Create a clean translucent layer for bottles and boxes without pretending that the frosted sheet is colourless white.
Contemporary accessories
Combine a simple outline, drilled hole and limited artwork where material transparency is the main visual device.
Layered presentation
Place the tag over a known background and test both together, because the item behind it changes the finished contrast.
Material guide
Getting the best results from frosted stock
Frosted tags are printed on a translucent synthetic sheet, so the product or background shows softly through the tag.
Choosing the weight
Frosted stock is offered at 300gsm, 350gsm and 420gsm equivalents. Heavier sheets are less transparent and more rigid. Choose 350gsm for most cosmetics and gift tags, and 420gsm when the tag needs to hang flat or carry more opaque printing.
Designing for a see-through tag
Whatever sits behind the tag becomes part of the design. A frosted tag on a dark bottle looks different from the same tag on a white box, so check the artwork against the actual product. Keep important text inside an area where the background behind it is consistent.
Process colours print slightly translucent on frosted stock, so pale colours look washed out. Strong colours, black, and white ink give the clearest result.
Using white ink
White ink is what makes frosted tags readable. It can be used as text, as a solid panel behind coloured print so the colours stay bright, or as a pattern that plays against the clear areas. Supply white as its own clearly named layer or spot colour in the artwork so it can be printed separately.
Legibility
Because the background shows through, small text needs more contrast than on card. Keep text at 8pt or larger, avoid thin script fonts, and put essential details such as prices or barcodes on a white-backed panel.
Handling and fixing
The synthetic sheet resists water and tearing, which suits bath, beauty and drinks products. A punched hole holds well; clear elastic, satin ribbon or a fine cord suit the light, modern look better than heavy twine.

Build the specification

- Card and surface
- Frosted synthetic sheet transmits light and background colour, so unprinted areas never behave like white paper. Opaque white ink can create a controlled base where text or colour must remain consistent.
Artwork and file guidance
Prepare the artwork
Plan the finished format before export
Keep essential frosted swing tags copy clear of the trim edge and attachment area. The page-specific artwork guidance explains the considerations for formats, holes, folds and variable product information.
Preview the design against light and dark backgrounds, then identify any opaque white layer as a separate named production separation so its extent cannot be confused with ordinary unprinted transparency.
If frosted swing tags artwork is not final, submit the product and specification details first. This gives the production conversation a clear starting point without forcing a premature file upload.

Frosted Swing Tags FAQs
Is frosted stock see-through?
It is translucent rather than clear: shapes and colours behind it show softly, but text behind it is not readable. Heavier weights are more opaque than lighter ones.
Can frosted tags get wet?
Yes. The sheet is a synthetic material that does not absorb water, so it stays flat and legible in damp bathrooms, chillers and ice buckets.
Why does my artwork look pale on frosted stock?
Process inks are slightly transparent, and on a translucent sheet there is no white card behind them. Put a white ink layer under any colour that must look bright.
Can I write on a frosted tag?
Use a permanent marker or a paint pen. Ballpoint and pencil do not mark the smooth synthetic surface reliably.
