Swing Tag Corner Options
Choose a swing tag corner by considering handling, artwork and the character of the product. Square corners are precise, rounded corners soften the outline, angled corners add a geometric detail, and a custom die-cut can make the corner part of a wider shape.
Compare the Four Main Corner Treatments
Square corners retain the full rectangular area and suit layouts built on straight edges. Rounded corners remove the sharp point and can make a small tag feel less severe. Angled or chamfered corners cut one or more corners on a diagonal. Custom die-cut corners use a purpose-made outline when the edge needs a notch, asymmetric curve or branded profile.
Choose a Radius at Finished Size
A rounded corner is not a single standard appearance. A small radius barely softens the point, while a larger radius can make a rectangle look capsule-shaped. State the radius or approve a dimensioned dieline rather than asking only for “rounded corners”. Print the outline at 100% and hold it beside the product before approving it.
Protect Text, Borders and Codes
Keep essential text, barcodes and logos inside a safe area that follows the finished outline. A border that sits close to the edge makes minor cutting variation easier to see, especially around a radius. If the design uses a full-bleed background, extend it beyond the cut line as shown in the supplied template.
Coordinate Corners With the Hanging Hole
The hole and corner should not weaken the same narrow area of board. On a small tag, a large radius can reduce the space available around a top-corner hole or eyelet. Confirm the hole centre, diameter, nearest cut edge and string direction on one dimensioned drawing.
Account for Lamination and Board Weight
Heavy board can make a sharp corner feel more pronounced, while lamination adds a film edge that follows the cut. Rounded corners may suit repeatedly handled tags, but they do not make a paper tag waterproof or indestructible. Material, film, thickness and edge treatment should be specified together.
Prepare a Clear Corner Brief
Send the finished width and height, the corner treatment on each corner, any radius or angle, the board, printed sides, hole position, quantity and artwork status. Use the Custom Tag Builder for a non-standard treatment, or compare the existing rounded-corner and custom die-cut guides first.
