Round swing tags: choosing the diameter and layout
A round swing tag has no corners, so it reads as softer than a rectangle and frames a circular logo naturally. The main decision is the diameter, which sets how much text fits and where the hole can sit without crowding the design.
Round and Large Round are both preset shapes in the Custom Tag Builder. Give the diameter as the width and height, and keep type an even distance from the edge all the way round, since there is no straight edge to align it to.

Round Swing Tags start at 50mm diameter on coated one side card. Each numbered part of the diagram is a choice you can change in the order panel.

Choosing a diameter
A circle has no long edge to hide copy along, so usable area falls away faster than on a rectangle of the same width. Most round tags land between 40mm and 70mm across.
Centring the artwork
With no square corner to align to, a logo reads as off-centre far more obviously than it would on a rectangle. Set the design from the centre outwards.
Hole position on a curve
The hole sits on a curve rather than a flat top edge, so it needs more clearance from both the artwork and the cut than a rectangular tag does.
Type on a circular tag
Long lines run out of width quickly. Short stacked lines, or type set on an arc that follows the edge, use the space better than a full-width sentence.

Plan the finished format before export
Set the artwork on a square canvas the size of the diameter and centre everything on the middle of the circle, as a round tag has no straight edge to align type to. The 50mm round template shows the cut line, bleed and a hole position.
Keep text an even distance from the curve all the way round and set the hole on the centre line, so the tag hangs level.

Round Swing Tags FAQs
What size should a round swing tag be?
Between 40mm and 70mm in diameter covers most uses. Below 40mm there is little room for anything beyond a mark, and above 70mm a circle starts to swing awkwardly on smaller products.
How much text fits on a round tag?
Less than the diameter suggests. The usable rectangle inside a circle is roughly 70% of its width, and the hole takes more of the top. Plan for a mark plus two or three short lines.
Is a round tag the same as a circle tag?
Yes, the terms are interchangeable. Round is the more common description of the shape, circle the more common description of the product.
Does a circular tag cost more than a rectangle?
A curved outline needs a cutting form rather than a straight guillotine cut, which is why shaped tags sit on a different price ladder from standard rectangles.
