Umbrella silhouette
Umbrella Swing Tags
An umbrella outline combines a wide curved canopy with a thin curved handle, and the handle is the part that decides whether the shape works.

A product-specific format
Umbrella Swing Tags for product presentation
Umbrella Swing Tags give product teams a dedicated format for the information and presentation requirements of the item being sold. The specification should begin with the product it will be attached to, then account for the information the tag needs to carry.
Use the form to record the final size, card direction, print sides, finishing and attachment for umbrella swing tags. This keeps the practical decisions together before artwork is supplied or confirmed.

Additional information
Build the specification
Umbrella Swing Tags specification
- The handle decides the shape
- A thin curved handle is the most fragile element in any shape we cut. Either thicken it beyond what looks natural or shorten it.
- Stock has to match the category
- A paper tag on rainwear fails on the first wet day. Synthetic or laminated board is the honest specification here.
- Print area is the canopy only
- The handle carries no useful copy, so the effective printable area is the canopy and nothing else.
- Hanging point
- Hung from the canopy the tag reads upright; hung from the handle it reads inverted. Decide which before the die.
Artwork and file guidance
Prepare the artwork
Plan the finished format before export
Keep the canopy and handle on one closed cut path and thicken the handle in the artwork before the die is made. Fine life-like proportions usually leave too little board to survive retail handling.
Place the hole in the canopy, clear of the curved shoulder, and keep critical copy in the broad upper area. The handle is silhouette rather than usable text space.

Umbrella Swing Tags FAQs
Will the handle break off?
It is the weakest part of the shape and the reason most umbrella dies thicken the handle beyond life-like proportions. Expect to compromise the drawing to make the tag survive.
Can the tag get wet?
Only on the right stock. Specify a synthetic or laminated board — an uncoated paper umbrella tag cockles and softens the first time it meets rain, which is a poor look on rainwear.
How much can I print on it?
The canopy only. The handle is too narrow to carry anything readable, so treat the effective print area as the canopy and design within it.
