Tags built for hats
Chunky knit beanies and structured baseball caps need different fixing points. The tag must be small enough not to interfere with the fit when tried on, but large and stiff enough to present barcodes and pricing clearly.
Hat tags range from kraft card for knitted beanies to heavy, foil-stamped board for premium caps. They are printed card hang tags attached with string or elastic, not woven or sewn-in labels.

Winter Beanies
Pair thick knits with kraft or textured card; a string tied through the knit avoids pulling the yarn.

A tag on the band or brim carries the size and care notes without marking a delicate straw weave.
Price and size on the back
Keep the front for the brand and put the size, price and barcode on the reverse, where staff can scan it on the rack.

- Size and shape
- Long, slim rectangles (e.g. 40x90mm) work very well when hanging from a cap adjuster.
- Card and weight
- We recommend at least 350gsm so the tag does not bend when the hat is handled.
- One or both sides; the reverse is the natural place for the size, price and barcode.
- Hole and attachment
- Elastic string suits a cap button; lock string or rope string suits beanies and brims. Add a metal eyelet if the tag will be pulled.

Choose finishes that match the hat material.
- Attachment: Elastic string loops over the button on top of a cap. For knitted hats, a string tied through the knit or a tagging-gun fastener through the inside label avoids stretching the yarn.
- Finishing: Gold or silver foil suits premium headwear; matt lamination protects a tag that is tried on and put back often.

How do I attach a tag to a baseball cap?
The most common methods are using a tagging gun through the internal label, or looping an elastic string over the squatcho (the button on the top of the cap).
Are hat tags the same as woven hat labels?
No. These are printed card tags that hang from the hat and are removed after purchase. Woven or sewn-in labels are a textile product made by a label weaver, not a printer.
