Velvet Swing Tags

A product-specific format
Velvet Swing Tags for product presentation
Velvet Swing Tags give product teams a dedicated format for the information and presentation requirements of the item being sold. The specification should begin with the product it will be attached to, then account for the information the tag needs to carry.
Use the form to record the final size, card direction, print sides, finishing and attachment for velvet swing tags. This keeps the practical decisions together before artwork is supplied or confirmed.

Additional information
Build the specification
Velvet Swing Tags specification
- Nothing prints on the pile
- Ink sits on top of the fibres and rubs straight off. Foil, deboss and blind emboss are the only reliable ways to mark a velvet face.
- Pile has a direction
- Like fabric, velvet board has a nap that changes colour as it turns. On a multi-tag order the nap direction has to be specified or the tags will not match.
- It marks and holds dust
- A fingernail leaves a track in the pile and the surface attracts dust in storage. It is a presentation material, not a handling one.
- Heavy board underneath
- The flock needs a substantial base or the tag feels like fabric rather than an object. This is rarely a lightweight product.
- Colour range is limited
- Velvet board comes in a set palette. Matching an exact brand colour is usually not possible, so the range drives the choice.
Artwork and file guidance
Prepare the artwork
Plan the finished format before export
Keep essential velvet swing tags copy clear of the trim edge and attachment area. The page-specific artwork guidance explains the considerations for formats, holes, folds and variable product information.
Keep any handwritten or stamped field outside the laminated area, and identify whether the film covers one or both sides. Confirm the sequence if foil or another finish is also specified.
If velvet swing tags artwork is not final, submit the product and specification details first. This gives the production conversation a clear starting point without forcing a premature file upload.

Questions before you order
Velvet Swing Tags FAQs
Can you print on velvet tags?
Not onto the pile. Ink sits on the fibre tips and rubs off, so marks have to be pressed in or laid on as foil. Foil, deboss and blind emboss all work well.
Why do my tags look like different colours?
Almost certainly nap direction. Velvet has a pile that shifts tone as it turns, so tags cut at different orientations read as different shades. It has to be specified before cutting.
Is velvet board durable?
Not for handling. It marks under a fingernail and collects dust in storage, which is fine for a presentation tag in a box and poor for anything on an open retail rail.
