Metallised diffraction board
Holographic Swing Tags
Holographic board is a mirror with a diffraction pattern, so every ink printed on it behaves as though it is printed on foil rather than on paper.
- In stock online. Swing tags are configured and ordered online from one tag; briefs for several designs or very large runs can also be quoted through the Custom Tag Builder.
- Free UK delivery. Standard online orders are delivered free to one UK address.

A product-specific format
Holographic Swing Tags for product presentation
Holographic Swing Tags give product teams a dedicated format for the information and presentation requirements of the item being sold. The specification should begin with the product it will be attached to, then account for the information the tag needs to carry.
Use the form to record the final size, card direction, print sides, finishing and attachment for holographic swing tags. This keeps the practical decisions together before artwork is supplied or confirmed.

Where this format fits
Holographic Swing Tags uses
Cosmetics and fragrance
Ranges where the packaging already uses metallic and iridescent finishes.
Festival and event merchandise
Short-run products where the finish is the whole attraction.
Youth and streetwear
Ranges positioned against conventional matt kraft branding.
Anti-copy and authenticity
The material is difficult to reproduce casually, which makes it useful on limited editions.
Additional information
Build the specification
Holographic Swing Tags specification
- Ink sits on a mirror
- Without a white underprint, every colour goes transparent over the metallised surface. Decide which elements get an opaque base and which are meant to stay see-through.
- The effect is directional
- The rainbow shift depends on the angle of the light and the viewer. Under flat retail lighting a holographic tag can look simply silver, so check it in the environment it will sell in.
- Pattern type matters
- Rainbow, sequin, linear and crushed-ice patterns are different materials, not settings. Name the pattern when you quote.
- Barcodes need care
- A scanner reads contrast, and a mirrored ground destroys it. Put any barcode on a solid white printed panel rather than straight onto the holographic surface.
- It cannot be written on
- There is no fibre to take ink. If anyone needs to write a price or a name, that area has to be a printed matt patch.
Artwork and file guidance
Prepare the artwork
Plan the finished format before export
Keep essential holographic swing tags copy clear of the trim edge and attachment area. The page-specific artwork guidance explains the considerations for formats, holes, folds and variable product information.
Keep any handwritten or stamped field outside the laminated area, and identify whether the film covers one or both sides. Confirm the sequence if foil or another finish is also specified.
If holographic swing tags artwork is not final, submit the product and specification details first. This gives the production conversation a clear starting point without forcing a premature file upload.

Questions and answers
Questions before you order
Holographic Swing Tags FAQs
Why do my colours look transparent?
Because they are printing onto a mirror rather than onto white. Any colour that needs to look solid requires a white underprint beneath it; anything without one will take on the metallic ground.
Will a barcode scan on holographic board?
Only if it sits on a printed white panel. Scanners read contrast, and a mirrored surface reflects the beam unpredictably, so printing a code straight onto the holographic ground is unreliable.
Will it look holographic in my shop?
Test it under your actual lighting. The effect depends on light striking the surface at an angle, so under flat diffuse retail lighting the tag can read as plain silver.
