A product-specific format
Reflective Swing Tags for product presentation
Reflective Swing Tags give product teams a dedicated format for the information and presentation requirements of the item being sold. The specification should begin with the product it will be attached to, then account for the information the tag needs to carry.
Use the form to record the final size, card direction, print sides, finishing and attachment for reflective swing tags. This keeps the practical decisions together before artwork is supplied or confirmed.

Additional information
Build the specification
Reflective Swing Tags specification
- It looks dull until it is lit
- In ordinary daylight retroreflective film is flat grey. The effect only appears when light hits it head on, which is exactly the point but often surprises people at proof stage.
- Never laminate over it
- A gloss or matt laminate over the film destroys the retroreflection completely. If the tag needs protection, protect the reverse and leave the face open.
- Limited print methods
- Screen and UV printing work on the film. Conventional litho does not key to the surface, so the artwork has to be planned for the process.
- Print area reduces the effect
- Every square millimetre printed is a square millimetre that no longer reflects. Keep coverage light if the reflective function actually matters.
- Bead or prismatic
- Glass bead film is cheaper and softer; microprismatic film is brighter and more directional. The choice follows how far away the tag needs to be seen.
Artwork and file guidance
Prepare the artwork
Plan the finished format before export
Keep essential reflective swing tags copy clear of the trim edge and attachment area. The page-specific artwork guidance explains the considerations for formats, holes, folds and variable product information.
If reflective swing tags artwork is not final, submit the product and specification details first. This gives the production conversation a clear starting point without forcing a premature file upload.

Reflective Swing Tags FAQs
Why does the tag look grey?
Because retroreflective film only performs when light strikes it directly and returns to the viewer. In ambient daylight it reads as flat grey, and that is normal rather than a fault.
Can I laminate a reflective tag?
No. A laminate over the face kills the retroreflection outright. If the tag needs protecting, laminate the reverse only and leave the reflective face uncovered.
How much can I print on it?
As little as possible if reflectivity matters. Printed ink blocks the film underneath it, so heavy coverage turns a safety product into a decorative one.
