Scratch-Off Latex Swing Tag Guide

Scratch-off latex and specialized print finishing layer setup

Scratch-off latex is a specialized custom print technique designed to conceal promotional codes, authentication tokens, or campaign reveals beneath an opaque removable coating. Because application requires dedicated barrier varnishes, scratch-off projects are handled on a bespoke technical inquiry basis.

Artwork & Layer Setup Considerations

When preparing concept artwork for custom tags with scratch-off elements, standard multi-layer vector separation is recommended for initial technical review:

  • Base Content Layer: Contains the underlying revealed text, PIN, or discount code. Ensure sufficient clearance around the code area so the scratch-off boundary provides complete coverage.
  • Latex Overlay Mask: Provide a dedicated vector mask layer on a separate spot-colour channel (e.g. named Scratch_Mask) showing the exact dimensions and positioning of the intended scratch area.
  • Release Barrier Layer: Physical scratch-off panels typically require a protective UV gloss varnish or barrier laminate beneath the latex so the coating peels cleanly without tearing the printed paper fibres.

Technical Enquiry & Feasibility Consultation

Because scratch-off latex requires specialized tooling, drying times, and material compatibility checks, specifications must be evaluated with our production team prior to order placement. Please submit your artwork dimensions, card stock preference, and volume requirements via our custom enquiry form.
