Choose it for touch, not only appearance
The value of soft-touch film is most obvious when a customer handles the tag. It can suit luxury clothing, jewellery, cosmetics and gift products, particularly where the tag is intentionally part of the unboxing or retail experience.
Technical considerations
- Assess deep colours for rub marks and fingerprints.
- Confirm compatibility with foil, Spot UV or other overprinted finishes.
- Allow for scoring on folded tags.
- Avoid assuming every pen or adhesive will bond to the surface.
- Request a physical sample because screen proofs cannot demonstrate feel.
When a simpler finish is better
If the tag needs to be written on, easily recycled as paper, produced quickly or kept economical, an uncoated board or standard matt finish may be more appropriate. The product context should justify the additional film.
