Flat vs Folded Swing Tags
Choose a flat swing tag when the message fits clearly on one or two faces and quick handling matters. Choose a folded tag when the product needs organised panels for care, ingredients, instructions, languages or a longer story. The fold is useful only when the extra structure justifies more artwork, scoring and proofing decisions.

The best format is determined by the information and handling requirement, not by the number of panels alone. Review the complete construction before artwork begins.

Start with the information hierarchy
List every piece of copy at its final reading priority. A logo, product name, price and barcode may fit comfortably on a flat tag, while care detail or several languages may compete for space. Do not shrink text simply to preserve a flat format. Remove non-essential copy, use both sides or move to a folded construction when the information no longer reads clearly.
Account for folds in the physical specification
A folded tag needs an agreed closed size, open size, fold direction and panel sequence. Card grain, weight, lamination and heavy ink coverage can influence how the score folds and whether the surface cracks. Important text, codes and special finishes need clearance from the fold as well as the trim and attachment area.
Test the format on the product
Print a full-size mock-up, fold it and attach it to the actual product. Check whether it hangs correctly, stays closed during packing and opens without stressing the attachment. A folded tag can provide useful structure, but a flat tag is normally the clearer choice when the additional panels would carry filler rather than necessary information.
